Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the CalcRig mobile application and the website at calcrig.notchip.com, each operated by Raman Halder, a sole proprietor doing business as NOTchip, based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India (“NOTchip”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using CalcRig, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use CalcRig.

Acceptance of Terms

By using CalcRig, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you are using CalcRig on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Eligibility

CalcRig is intended for trade professionals. You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/UK) to use CalcRig. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use CalcRig only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

The Service

CalcRig is a mobile application providing trade calculators for electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and construction work. The app is available on iOS and Android. We may add, modify, or remove features at any time.

Accounts and Authentication

You can use CalcRig anonymously, or sign in using Apple Sign In or Google Sign-In. If you create an account:

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account.
  • You may not transfer, sell, or share your account with anyone else.
  • One account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent these Terms is prohibited.

Accuracy of Calculations

CalcRig calculators reference published code standards (NEC, ASHRAE, UPC, IRC). However:

  • CalcRig is a reference tool, not a substitute for professional judgment.
  • All calculations should be verified by a qualified professional before use in licensed work.
  • Code standards change — always verify the applicable edition of a code standard for your jurisdiction.
  • NOTchip is not liable for errors in calculations or for consequences arising from their use.

You are responsible for verifying that any calculation meets the requirements of your jurisdiction and the specific conditions of your project.

Subscriptions and Auto-Renewal

CalcRig Pro is available as:

  • Monthly subscription: $2.99 USD per month (auto-renewing)
  • Annual subscription: $19.99 USD per year (auto-renewing)
  • Lifetime: $49.99 USD, one-time payment (non-recurring)

By starting a subscription, you authorize Apple or Google to charge the payment method on file for the subscription price at the start of each billing period. Subscriptions automatically renew for the same term at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Lifetime purchases do not renew. Prices may change with notice; if a price change applies to your subscription, we will notify you and your continued subscription after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

To manage or cancel a subscription:

  • iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → CalcRig.
  • Android: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → CalcRig.

Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial periods. Refund requests are governed by Apple’s and Google’s policies and must be addressed to them.

Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

Acceptable Use

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of CalcRig.
  • Use CalcRig to develop a competing product or service.
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to extract content from CalcRig.
  • Use CalcRig for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Interfere with or disrupt CalcRig’s servers, infrastructure, or other users’ use of the service.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of CalcRig.
  • Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices in CalcRig.

Intellectual Property

CalcRig, including its design, code, calculators, branding, and content, is owned by NOTchip and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use CalcRig for your personal and professional calculation purposes, subject to these Terms. The underlying code standards (NEC, ASHRAE, UPC, IRC, etc.) are owned by their respective organizations and are referenced for informational purposes only.

User Data

Your use of CalcRig is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what data we collect and how we use it. You are responsible for the calculation inputs and results you create and for any data you choose to export or share.

Disclaimer of Warranties

CalcRig is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (without limitation) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. You use CalcRig at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties; in those jurisdictions, the exclusions above apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall NOTchip, its officers, directors, employees, agents, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business — arising out of or in connection with your use of CalcRig, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

NOTchip’s total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to CalcRig or these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid to NOTchip in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless NOTchip and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of CalcRig; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of a third party; or (d) any reliance you or any third party places on a CalcRig calculation in licensed, regulated, or safety-critical work.

Termination

You may stop using CalcRig at any time by uninstalling the app and, if applicable, cancelling your subscription and requesting deletion of your account.

We may suspend or terminate your access to CalcRig at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraud or abuse, or used CalcRig in a way that exposes NOTchip or other users to risk or liability. On termination, your right to use CalcRig ends immediately, but provisions that by their nature should survive (including Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law) will survive.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Subject to the informal-resolution requirement below, the courts of Kolkata, West Bengal, India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of CalcRig.

Informal resolution first. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at info@notchip.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will work in good faith to address your concerns within sixty (60) days.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Entire Agreement; No Waiver

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and NOTchip regarding CalcRig and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights or obligations under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms freely, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of CalcRig after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

App Store Provisions (iOS)

If you obtained CalcRig from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply and prevail over any conflicting provision in these Terms:

  • Parties. These Terms are between you and NOTchip only, not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). Apple is not responsible for CalcRig or its content.
  • Scope of license. Your license to use CalcRig is limited to a non-transferable license to use CalcRig on an Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • Maintenance and support. NOTchip, not Apple, is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for CalcRig.
  • Warranty. NOTchip is solely responsible for any product warranties, express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If CalcRig fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for CalcRig to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to CalcRig.
  • Product claims. NOTchip, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to CalcRig or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that CalcRig fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection or similar legislation.
  • Intellectual property claims. In the event of any third-party claim that CalcRig or your possession and use of CalcRig infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, NOTchip (not Apple) is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such claim.
  • Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that (a) you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and (b) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
